San Francisco Bay Sportfishing offers an intimate, hands-on, instructional fishing charter experience, led by Captain Sean Treacy, based near Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 45. Sean has fished many of the world’s oceans — the Atlantic, Irish Sea, Pacific, Sea of Cortez, Bering Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Gulf of Alaska, and the Hawaiian Islands — before coming to San Francisco and fishing the Bay since 1998.
Trips run aboard the 37′ by 13′ Andrea-K, targeting Sturgeon, Shark, Halibut, and Striped Bass. Captain Sean specializes in hands-on instruction for novice anglers and children, using both heavy and light tackle, whether anchor fishing for sturgeon or sharks, working the central bay rock piles for bass, or drifting the sandy flats for halibut.
San Francisco Bay is home to several shark species genuinely worth targeting: Leopard Sharks, Sevengill Sharks, Soupfin Sharks, and Sand Sharks, some growing up to 10 feet. The bay is also home to the prehistoric Great White Sturgeon, affectionately nicknamed “Dinos,” with keeper-sized fish measuring 40-60 inches — a genuine bucket-list catch with Captain Sean. Guests just need a fishing license, camera, lunch, and layered clothing for San Francisco’s famously changeable weather.
For anglers of any experience level (including families with children) near San Francisco, California looking for a deeply experienced, hands-on sturgeon, shark, halibut, or striped bass fishing charter, San Francisco Bay Sportfishing offers a well-established operation with Captain Sean Treacy.
