Wüber is a licensed, captained pontoon boat charter and water transportation company on Lake Greenwood, South Carolina, veteran-owned and operated by Charles and Amy Thomas. Charles is a fully licensed U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine and Master Captain, and the couple, both with more than 20 years in the transportation industry, returned to Lake Greenwood after 35 years away and immediately saw a need for a proper captained charter service on the lake.
The current vessel, The Shady Lady, is a 25-foot StarCraft Tri-hull Pontoon powered by an ultra-quiet 200 HP four-stroke Honda motor, with plenty of storage, modern safety equipment, a marine radio, and seating for 11 — though federal law caps paying passengers at 6 per trip, with larger groups scheduled across multiple trips. The boat’s name pays tribute to Amy’s childhood pet, Shady, a chocolate Springer Spaniel.
Trips include a guided tour around Lake Greenwood’s most memorable points of interest, dinner cruises pairing a stop at a lakeside restaurant with sunset views from the water, and fully custom lake excursions where guests pick and choose exactly what they want to experience. Guests can bring their own music for the ride while Charles and Amy handle the navigation.
The business’s mission is to expand under the Wüber brand with additional captains and crew, and multi-day boat rentals are planned for the future.
