Westport Marina, also known locally as the Westport Boat Basin, is the largest coastal marina in the Pacific Northwest and home to Washington State’s largest charter fishing fleet, operated by the Port of Grays Harbor. With more than 550 moorage slips along Westhaven Drive, the marina supports charter, commercial, and recreational vessels alike, making it one of the top commercial fishing ports by volume on the entire West Coast.
The marina serves as the launch point for Westport’s dozens of individual sportfishing charter operators, who meet guests dockside each morning before crossing the Grays Harbor bar out to the Pacific fishing grounds for salmon, halibut, lingcod, rockfish, and albacore tuna depending on the season. Beyond the charter fleet, the marina is a hub of activity in its own right, with 17 public access docks, a fishermen’s boardwalk, a viewing platform, and the Westport waterfront esplanade giving visitors a front-row seat to the working harbor and the Pacific Ocean beyond.
Westport Marina also offers a unique shore-based fishing opportunity each fall, when Coho salmon released as juveniles by the local Kiwanis Club return to the boat basin, drawing anglers who line the docks to cast for the returning fish. Crabbing off the docks within the boat basin is another popular pastime, especially for first-time anglers looking for an easy, low-commitment way to catch something. The nearby South Jetty and rock revetments surrounding the marina also produce rockfish, sea bass, greenling, cabezon, and perch for those fishing on foot.
As the seafood processing hub of the Pacific Northwest, Westport Marina supports vessels from Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, and British Columbia, with more than 2,700 local jobs tied directly to the seafood industry.
