The Electric Boat Company has rented 100% electric boats on Seattle’s Lake Union since 2005, giving guests an easy, self-piloted way to take in the city skyline, Gas Works Park, and Lake Union’s iconic houseboats. Anyone 21 or older can take the wheel, with no prior boating experience or license needed, and boats can be completely enclosed and heated for year-round enjoyment, rain or shine.
The fleet includes three boat styles. The Standard Boat seats 10 passengers, cruises at about 6 mph, and features open-concept seating, a fixed table, a Bluetooth stereo, and optional heating, priced at $139 an hour. The Luxury Boat seats up to 12 passengers with upgraded interior seating and fixtures, two movable tables, and a Bluetooth surround sound stereo, priced at $189 an hour. The Electric Catamaran fits 6 passengers in a completely open-air layout with a swim ladder for easy water access, priced at $119 an hour.
Guests can add extras to make their time on the water more memorable, including the “Clueless in Seattle” on-the-water scavenger hunt, a GPS-guided audio tour covering over 200 years of Seattle history, and on-site catering with fresh, locally sourced food and beverage options.
