Point Runner Charters formerly ran offshore fishing charters out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center in Nags Head, North Carolina, aboard the 60-foot Point Runner, one of the largest and fastest charter boats in the fleet. Named after “The Point,” one of the East Coast’s hottest offshore fishing spots roughly 35-36 nautical miles southeast of Nags Head, the boat offered quick access to yellowfin, bigeye, and bluefin tuna, blue and white marlin, sailfish, dolphin, and wahoo.
Twin Caterpillar diesel engines provided a 27-knot cruise, with a 12K generator powering two air conditioners to keep the spacious salon comfortable, GPS, fish-finder, and radar in the cabin, and two private heads. Longtime Captain Danny Wadsworth, a licensed captain for more than 30 years holding a USCG 100-Ton Master license, worked the boat alongside mate (and fellow licensed captain) Scott Simpson, a native of the Outer Banks.
As of a recent Facebook announcement, the vessel has been sold and relocated to Florida, ending its run as a Nags Head charter boat after being purchased and operated since 2014.
