For river trips, Randy runs a fiberglass Clacka drift boat equipped with front and back heat for cold days, ideal for fly fishing and comfortably holding up to three anglers, along with an Outcast raft for low-water conditions and hard-to-reach stretches of river, limited to two customers. His ocean vessel is a custom 28-foot Olympic with a fully enclosed heated cabin and stand-up head, outfitted with brand-name electronics and built to comfortably fish five anglers. La Push, home of the Quileute Tribe just minutes from Forks, serves as Randy’s home port for ocean charters, a port he’s fished since childhood.

The seasonal lineup covers steelhead from December through March, both hatchery and native runs, with the Olympic Peninsula widely known as the steelhead capital of the world. Salmon fishing on the rivers picks up October and November, with kings running up to 50 pounds and silvers up to 20 pounds. On the ocean side, trophy lingcod runs April through June and after August 1st, bottom fishing for lingcod and rockfish runs April through mid-October, salmon season runs July through September, and albacore tuna fishing runs August through September when warm water pushes closer to shore. Blackmouth and Chinook salmon fishing is also available in April.

All boats are clean, licensed, and equipped with required safety gear, and Randy is USCG licensed and first aid/CPR certified, accommodating all skill levels from complete beginners to experienced anglers. All fishing gear and bait are supplied, and Randy works with other reputable local guides to accommodate corporate accounts or larger groups. Scenic ocean and river sightseeing tours are also available for those wanting to see the coast’s wildlife, including gray whales in April and humpback and occasional orca whales through the summer.
